IVANJICA IS PROMOTING THE O-DVA-JA-MO PROJECT

July 3, 2023

On May 16, representatives of the local self-government and the public utility company "Ivanjica" joined the eco-ambassadors of the project "O-DVA-JA-MO" in the center of Ivanjica to remind citizens of the importance of this project for the local community, summarize the results and listen to the opinions of fellow citizens about the quality of waste management services. Ivanjica is one of the eight municipalities in the Duboko region where this project began to be implemented in 2022.

Through this project, Ivanjica received one new 16m3 vehicle for collecting and transporting dry waste, 3015 blue bins and 34 blue containers for paper, plastic and metal, and 50 yellow containers for glass.

According to Jovana Radonjić, the project coordinator in Ivanjica, the citizens have actively responded to the project and everyone who has received a blue bin so far is successfully separating waste. The distribution of bins in the central parts of the city continues in order for the entire planned territory of Ivanjica to be covered.

It is especially important that young fellow citizens responded to this project and took part in the promotion. The volunteers from the Ivanjica high school actively distributed flyers and explained in conversation with the citizens how important it is to preserve the environment.

The "O-DVA-JA-MO" project is implemented in 17 municipalities in Serbia with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, the European Union and the Embassy of Sweden. The goal of the project is to recycle part of the waste generated in households, in order to reduce the amount that ends up in landfills and increase the recycling rate in these municipalities to 15%.

The Waste Management Program in Serbia 2022-2031, adopted by the Government of Serbia as part of EU accession, aims to improve the municipal waste management system through an increased rate of recycling, reduced disposal of biodegradable waste in landfills and reduced disposal of waste in unhygienic landfills.

Now everyone can separate waste fast and easily!
